Ohio properties link the northeastern and mid-western portions of the United States.  Ohio boasts the nation's 10th largest highway network.  Both the highways and waterways allow for an excellent transportation system.  Lake Erie provides numerous seaports and 312 miles of coastline along the northern border and the Ohio River defines the southern border.

The Buckeye State encompasses over 40,000 square miles of land.   Cargo and business traffic pass through Ohio along a well-developed highway system.  By vehicle, the states farms and lands are within a one-day drive of half of the North American population and 70 percent of the manufacturing capacity on the continent.

Ohio's hot summers and cold winters promote stable crop growth.  The heat helps growth and soil is replenished annual during the cold season.  In addition, Ohio farms receive approximately 36 inches of rainfall annually.  Variables throughout the state produce 400 different soil types.

Over half of the land in Ohio is classified as "prime farmland," a distinction held by only four states.  The state harvested over 10 million acres of crops in 2007 and 14.3 million acres of land are set aside for agricultural purposes.  Corn and soybeans are the top crops.  Pumpkins are also prolific.  Ohio ranks fifth in the cultivation of flowers.  All of this while hardwood forests cover the eastern and southern hilly regions.

Ohio is home to 1,270 cattle, 4 million hogs, 141,000 sheep, and over 800 food-processing plants.  Dairy cattle produce more than 5.13 billion pounds of milk each year.  Ohio leads the nation in the production of Swiss cheese and is #2 in the nation for egg production.  Each year, 7.1 billion (592 million dozen) eggs are produced.

Columbus is the state capital.  Neighboring states include Pennsylvania to the east, Indiana to the west, Ontario Canada to the north, Michigan to the northwest, Kentucky to the south, and West Virginia to the southeast.  Counties in Ohio include:
